URflashcards Terms of Service.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of URflashcards, a language-learning flashcard application provided by Şerif Cin (“Provider”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
The Terms are intended to be read together with the Privacy Policy, the Account Deletion information page, and the purchase terms shown by Google Play at the time of purchase.
Service and provider information
- The “Service” means the URflashcards application, the learning features available in the application, and urflashcards.com pages that support the application.
- The Service is designed for language learning, vocabulary review, flashcard practice, spaced-repetition scheduling, custom vocabulary management, optional cloud backup, and related study support.
- The Service is provided and administered by Şerif Cin. Support and personal-data questions can be sent to support@urflashcards.com.
- The availability, structure, design, and technical operation of the Service may change over time for maintenance, security, legal, provider, or product reasons.
Words used in these Terms
- User means a person who installs, opens, accesses, or uses the Service. Where that person cannot enter a binding agreement under applicable law, references to agreement or responsibility include the person’s parent or legal guardian where required.
- Application means the current URflashcards Android app distributed through Google Play.
- Local Learning Experience means learning and practice with Learning Data kept on your device without Cloud Sync. It can be used without signing in and may include Premium features.
- Account means an optional sign-in account used for Cloud Sync, backup, restore, account deletion, Premium entitlement refresh, or related account features.
- Learning Data means progress, answers, review schedules, streaks, achievements, statistics, settings, selected languages, and related study records.
- User Content means custom cards, categories, notes, examples, edits, or other content that a user creates, imports, modifies, or syncs through the Service.
- Premium means paid or subscription-based access shown in the Application or Google Play, which may remove ads or unlock additional limits or features.
- Course Pair means one directed target-language and native-language course, so reversing the two languages is a different Course Pair.
- Pair Unlock means a device-local record that permits one Course Pair to be downloaded or used on that installation. It is not a purchase, subscription, cash reward, or cross-device entitlement.
Review and agreement
- The Application is available only to users aged 13 or older. Select your age group accurately during setup; a person under 13 must not use the app or select an inaccurate group.
- The app asks you to review and affirmatively accept these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy before continuing. Optional app usage sharing, ad choices, and device permissions are separate choices.
- If you are at least 13 but are not old enough to enter this agreement on your own under applicable law, your parent or legal guardian must review and accept these Terms for you.
- Silence, closing a screen, or leaving the app does not count as agreement or consent where an affirmative choice is required.
What the app may include
The app provides downloadable language courses, flashcard and grammar practice, review scheduling, progress tracking, custom vocabulary, reminders, and optional speech tools. It may also offer Cloud Sync, backup and restore, ads, optional rewards, and Premium access.
Available features and their requirements are shown in the app. Some require an account, Premium, an internet connection, device permission, or an available third-party service.
Account responsibilities
- Many learning features can be used without an Account or Cloud Sync. Current Account features use Google Sign-In.
- Your selected age group is kept on the device to apply privacy and advertising protections, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
- You are responsible for keeping the Google account used with URflashcards secure and for activity that occurs through your account.
- Please provide accurate information when requested by the Application, Google Play, or Google Sign-In.
- If a user aged 13 or older is not old enough to manage an Account or purchase independently under applicable law, a parent or legal guardian must provide any review or authorization the law requires.
- We may limit, suspend, or refuse access to account features where necessary to protect the Service, comply with law, respond to provider requirements, prevent abuse, or address serious violations of these Terms.
Your cards, notes, and progress
- You keep ownership of original User Content that you create.
- You grant URflashcards limited, non-exclusive permission to store, process, display, sync, back up, and restore your User Content and Learning Data as needed to provide the features you use, secure the Service, and respond to support requests. This does not transfer ownership. Optional app usage information used to improve the app is handled as explained in the Privacy Policy.
- You are responsible for User Content you create, import, edit, or sync, including making sure you have any permissions needed to use it.
- Do not create, import, upload, or sync User Content that is unlawful, harmful, abusive, infringing, misleading, privacy-invasive, or designed to interfere with the Service or another person.
- Course updates may change built-in material you have not edited. Saved edits, added examples, hidden-card choices, and progress are kept separately from the built-in course.
- If built-in material is removed, associated edits and progress may remain stored without being displayed or transferred to a different card. Resetting edits is separate from hiding or restoring a card.
- Deleting an account removes cloud data controlled by URflashcards as described in the Privacy Policy. Local data may also need to be cleared from the device if you want to remove local-only data.
Monetization and Google Play billing
- The free version may include limits, advertisements, or optional rewarded ads. URflashcards is designed so ads are not intentionally shown during active study or practice sessions.
- We request protected, non-personalized ads for users who select 13–15 or 16–17, and age-appropriate ad content for every group. Adult personalization depends on applicable requirements and available choices. Selecting the adult group is not consent to personalized ads.
- The first two distinct available Course Pairs selected on an installation receive free Pair Unlocks without an ad. Once an unlock is assigned to a pair, a failed download does not remove it; you can retry that same pair without another ad.
- Eligible users may choose one optional rewarded ad to unlock an additional Course Pair on that installation. The unlock is saved when the ad grants the reward, even if the download needs retrying. The same age protections apply to rewarded ads.
- A Pair Unlock covers current and later course versions on the same installation. Updates or redownloads do not require another ad. Unlocks are separate from your server account and normally remain through sign-in, sign-out, app updates, and account deletion. Clearing app storage or uninstalling the app removes them.
- Rewards depend on ad availability, allowed choices, age protections, and device or network conditions. They have no cash value, are not purchases, and do not transfer to another installation.
- Ad choices are separate from accepting these Terms. Declining or withdrawing ad consent does not cancel your account or Terms acceptance, but may limit ads or rewards.
- While Premium is confirmed active, all released Course Pairs are available without a rewarded ad. If Premium later ends, a pair that has no free or rewarded Pair Unlock becomes unavailable, but its downloaded cache, User Content, and Learning Data are not deleted.
- Google Play displays the final price, billing period, renewal terms, taxes, trial details, cancellation rules, and refund rules before purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through the Google Play account that made the purchase. Uninstalling the Application, clearing local data, or deleting your URflashcards account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Google Play subscriptions can be managed through Google Play’s subscription center.
- Cancelling renewal through Google Play normally leaves paid access available until the end of the paid period. Refund requests follow Google Play's refund policies and applicable law; contact support for purchase problems. RevenueCat helps us manage and restore purchase access.
- Where Google Play billing rules or mandatory consumer laws provide rights that differ from these Terms, those rules apply to the purchase or billing issue.
Data rules connected to the Service
The Privacy Policy explains how we and our providers handle information, your choices, retention, and deletion.
If you use Cloud Sync, Learning Data and User Content may be stored in Firebase so progress can be backed up and restored. Live Cloud Sync and new backup uploads may be limited to Premium users. After Premium ends, a signed-in user can still check for and restore the latest existing backup for the selected target language without re-enabling live synchronization, when such a backup exists.
Account deletion is available inside the Application for signed-in users and through the public Account Deletion page. Limited provider backup copies, billing, security or legal records may remain as explained in the Privacy Policy.
Educational use and no guaranteed result
- URflashcards is an educational practice tool, not a professional translation, assessment, certification, or advisory service.
- Learning content, translations, speech feedback, scores, and review estimates may contain errors, be incomplete, or differ by language, dialect, device, or curriculum. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not warrant their accuracy, completeness, or suitability for a particular purpose.
- We do not guarantee fluency, exam results, grades, career outcomes, or any specific learning result. App scores and levels are practice indicators, not certifications of proficiency.
- You should independently verify important translations, study material, exam requirements, or professional decisions before relying on them.
Microphone, speech recognition, and playback
Choosing speech recognition can use the Android speech-service provider configured on the device. That provider may process microphone input off the device and return recognition results to the Application. URflashcards does not store or upload raw microphone audio to its own servers. Text-to-speech can also use the device’s configured voice service.
You can choose not to use speech features, and you can revoke microphone permission in your Android device settings. Speech tools may be unavailable, inaccurate, delayed, or different across devices and languages.
Rules for using the Service
- Use the Service only for lawful, personal learning, backup, restore, and related study purposes.
- Do not attack, overload, scrape, interfere with, or bypass protections in the app or its services. Do not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app except where applicable law gives you that right.
- Do not fake purchases or rewards, tamper with access, abuse accounts or Cloud Sync, or interfere with another user or provider.
- Do not use the Service to host public content, distribute spam, distribute harmful content, infringe rights, violate privacy, or conduct unlawful activity.
App materials and permitted use
The app, built-in course materials, design, code, graphics, and branding are owned by us or used with permission.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for personal learning. You may not sell, publish, redistribute, or use URflashcards materials in commercial or public resources unless we allow it in writing or applicable law permits it. These restrictions do not limit rights you independently hold in your own original User Content.
Providers outside our control
Account, cloud, purchase, advertising, and speech features may depend on third-party services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to those services; the Privacy Policy identifies the providers we use.
We do not control or endorse third-party ad content, external websites, or independent provider decisions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept responsibility for their content, actions, omissions, or availability.
How the Service may change
- The Service may be updated, corrected, redesigned, interrupted, limited, or discontinued in whole or in part.
- Features may vary by Android device, operating-system version, language pair, account state, Premium state, network status, provider availability, and Google Play requirements.
- We may provide support at support@urflashcards.com, but support response times and outcomes are not guaranteed.
Limits that apply where permitted by law
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, compatible with every device, or capable of producing any specific learning result.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, URflashcards is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or lost-profit damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the Service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer rights.
Updates and continued use
We may update these Terms to reflect app changes, provider requirements, legal requirements, security needs, product improvements, or clearer wording. The latest version will be posted on this page with a new date.
When renewed agreement is required, the app asks you to review and affirmatively accept the update before using the affected features. Optional consent choices remain separate.
General legal provisions
- For a user who can enter this agreement, or the parent or legal guardian where applicable law requires, these Terms form the agreement with URflashcards regarding use of the Service. The Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.
- If a provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
- Failure to enforce a provision does not waive that provision or any right.
- Where mandatory local law or Google Play terms give you rights that cannot be waived, those rights remain unaffected.
